I visited a friends football scrimmage last night.  It was obvious this young man had little to no understanding of what he was doing on the field due to lack of knowledge.  As a gifted athlete, this was difficult to watch.  Not the kids fault and it’s hard to put it on a, likely overloaded, coach.  However, it can also be dangerous.

One place you don’t want to be aimlessly wondering around is on a football field between whistles.

Over the last several years I feel God has allowed me to see the similarities between the football and our walk with Jesus Christ.  I felt compassion for this young man tonight and spent about five minutes with him after the scrimmage to understand his needs.  After asking the coach for permission, I gave the young man some instruction.

I thought to myself how many first year players out there need to just hear these fundamentals over and over?

So I created this video to help young players attempting to play the game for the first time to better understand what terminology coaches may be using.  My hopes are that removing some of the confusion will allow younger players to hesitate less, enjoy the game, protect themselves by understanding where they need to be, and PLAY HARD between whistles.

How many of us wonder around life aimlessly ‘between whistles’.  No purpose, no direction.  We don’t know where we are going in life, we don’t know the next step to take. We don’t even know what we don’t know. We are lost, we don’t know what to ask or where to start.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and these things will be added to you….Read Matthew 6…and may the Spirit of God divinely inspire you to receive the wisdom you desire.  May God remove the confusion from our lives, prevent us from hesitating, en…JOY the life God has given us, protect ourselves from the lion, the devil, who desires to devour us, and PLAY HARD between the whistles (sunrise to sunset).

I hope you enjoy the video. If you need more detail leave a comment below with your question and I will be sure to answer it, Lord willing.

Father in Heaven, I pray that the struggle that all athletes go through in preparation for competition would guide them to competing for you. That they would gain an unquenchable thirst for spending time with you in prayer and reading your words in the Bible. Realizing this the most important ‘work out routine’ any of us on earth can do daily. And all of us can PARTICIPATE. NO ONE IS EXCLUDED. For your desire God, is that no one perish apart from you. Father it’s in your Son Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN

May the peace of the Lord be with you.
